What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy uses a variety of techniques to help your muscles and joints work to their full potential. It can help repair damage by speeding up the healing process and reducing pain and stiffness.
What problems can physiotherapy help?
Virtually any condition that affects your muscles, joints or nerves.
Sports Injuries
Painful conditions such as arthritis - Back and neck pain, including whiplash
Problems affecting children including cerebral palsy
Pregnancy related symptoms such as back pain and stress incontinence
Upper limb work related problems, also know as repetitive strain injury (RSI)

What does treatment involve?
Before any action is taken, the physiotherapist will assess your condition, diagnose the problem and help you understand what's wrong.
They will work with you to develop an effective treatment plan that takes into account your lifestyle, leisure activities and general health. Using manipulation, mobilization and massage along with exercises and electrotherapy. This will include advice on how you can help yourself, for example, you may be shown exercises that you can do between treatment sessions to aid healing.
Back Pain
At least 60% of adults have back pain at some point in there lives. Because most of our movements involve the back to some degree, this can affect mobility and make life very difficult. There are many causes of back pain and you will be assed accordingly.
Orthopaedic Rehabilitation
Physiotherapy has a vital role to play in the rehabilitation of patients who have suffered fractures or dislocations or undergone surgical procedures.
After orthopaedic surgery has fixed the structural defects of an injury, it is important that that the appropriate activities and exercises are performed in order to regain normal function. This often does not return automatically and requires careful guidance and monitoring from a physiotherapist, as well as hard work of the patient.
